It is six kilometres from the original village of Grimaud, built inland following tradition to be safer from pirate attacks from the sea. Port Grimaud is an artificial city built on a former swamp between 1962 and 1967. Inside the city cars are prohibited. You can access only by bicycle or by renting special small cars with drivers. You can rent typical fishermen's houses or apartments with a beathtaking view on the Gulf. There are also campgrounds and resorts. You can visit St Tropez which is only at 7km. But avoid taking your car cause you'll need more than 1 hour! The best way to go to St Tropez is to take the shuttle (around 20mn by boat). You can aslo rent a small boat without driver license. You can browse through the maze of canals of the city, go shopping and "park" your boat at your doorstep. Convenient for water packs.

Port Grimaud est une cité artificielle construite sur un ancien marécage entre 1962et1967. Elle est au creux du Golfe de St Tropez et la circulation automobile y est interdite! On peut s'y déplacer en vélo, ou bien en louant une petite voiturette avec chauffeur pour de cours trajets. On peut y louer des maisonnettes type maisons de pêcheurs mitoyennes avec coches d'eau(point d'amarrage privatif), ou bien des appartements avec une vue imprenable sur le Golfe. Il y a également des campings et des centres de vacances. Pour visiter St Tropez, l'idéal est de prendre les navettes (en bateau=20min, en voiture sur l'unique route saturée de monde= 1h et quart!!) alors qu'il n'y a que 7 km à parcourir! Vous pouvez également louer sans aucun permis un petit bateau à moteur, vous pourrez parcourir le dédale de canaux de la cité, aller faire vos courses et "garer"votre bateau au pied de votre porte ^^ Pratique pour transporter les packs d'eau lol!
